If you’ve ever wondered why Paris is called “the city of love,” this Poulet Bleu engagement session should be enough reason. Katrina and Andy took a vacation to the romance capital of the world a few years ago. Not only did they fall in love with Paris, but this is where Katrina also claims she and her now-fiance fell in love with one another. After their trip, they enjoyed discovering and then frequenting Poulet Bleu, where they would reminisce about Paris and dream of returning one day. For their engagement session with Steven Dray Photography, it seemed only fitting to recreate their time in the capital of France in a place that means so much to them now. The bistro’s staff was beyond accommodating, even treating the engaged couple to a glass of champagne to toast to the occasion. The pair took in the unique decor of each floor of the restaurant as they exchanged sweet kisses, shared a few laughs, and basked in that soon-to-be-married glow. This feature is romantic, modern, stylish, and is giving us major wanderlust…as well as making us want to make a resy for Poulet Bleu stat!
About the Couple
Andy and I met back in high school when we were both in the Valley View High School marching band. I played the flute and he played the trumpet. I had the biggest crush on him! We ended up dating for a short time; we were each other’s first kiss. We eventually went our separate ways but remained good friends throughout high school and college. Andy even visited me while I was at Penn State. In 2016, I asked Andy to be my plus one to my sister’s wedding and the rest is history! We rekindled our relationship and started dating shortly after.
Andy proposed at Point State Park on November 21, 2020. A few months earlier, Andy had taken me to Skelton Jewelry to look at rings so I had an idea of what was to come. It was raining that day and he insisted on going for a walk with our golden retriever, Scout. I started to get skeptical when the rain wasn’t stopping and we were still going for that walk. Andy popped the question near the Point State Park fountain. Our friends were hiding with champagne, as was a surprise photographer. It was such a happy moment given the rainy weather and the long pandemic summer we had all experienced. The photographer did a quick photo session with us and we went back to our apartment and celebrated with friends, pizza, and champagne.
About the Session
What inspired our engagement shoot was a vacation to Paris in 2018. We fell in love in and with Paris – the city and the food. When we returned to Pittsburgh, we began trying to find French restaurants to reminiscence on our trip and experience. We quickly discovered Poulet Bleu. Ever since we first had dinner there, I had this idea that it would be romantic to have our engagement pictures there. As soon as we got engaged, I reached out and was thrilled that they would let us take some pictures inside the restaurant. Both floors of the restaurant offer such unique vibes. There are so many colors and patterns in the restaurant’s interior design that the space speaks for itself. I wanted the theme to capture our love for each other, food, and trying new things. I think Steven did that wonderfully.
