For Olivia and Jesse, their quintessential “boy meets girl” story of two high school sweethearts translated so beautifully to their autumnal copper wedding at the George Washington Hotel. One highlight of the historic venue is the Washington Room, which features bright white walls and a contrasting black and white tile floor and it is where Olivia and Jesse exchanged vows. Floral arrangements of orange, burgundy, white, and peach popped in the space, and bridesmaids in floor-length burnt orange dresses further brought the color scheme to life. The warm colors and fall feels continued into the ballroom, where gold-trimmed accents matched the regal vibe of the room’s architecture. Trendy painted acrylic table numbers and a mirror seating chart were a few modern additions. It was the perfect setting for the newlyweds to dance, twirl, and celebrate a moment they’ve been anticipating for so long. Thanks to Anne Troxel Photography, who was there to capture it all, we’re able to experience a chapter of this couple’s fairytale. We’re pretty sure these two are going to live happily ever after!
About the Couple
Olivia and Jesse are everything you imagine from a fairytale or love song – they WERE just kids when they fell in love! They started flirting in their high school library class, shared their first kiss on the steps after an ice skating date, went to college together, and then adopted two gorgeous labs.
One morning during quarantine, Jesse woke up and realized it was THE DAY. He asked for permission to marry Olivia from her father, mother, and step-father, and then spent the entire day finding the perfect ring for Olivia. Under the guise of taking their lab for a run, he snuck both a GoPro camera and the ring into the dog’s collar for Olivia to find. Of course, she said yes, and the dog captured the entire thing!
About the Wedding
The George Washington Hotel has such amazing historic architecture, so the key was just emphasizing that beauty and bringing the fall feels and warmth inside. The black tile in the Washington Room, where the ceremony took place, gave just enough of a moody element to pair with bright white walls and warm florals, making for the perfect contrast.
Moving to the reception, the heavy drapery and gold trimmings around the fireplace and surrounds brought in a feeling of regal opulence. Simple white and gold linens with floral highlights let the architecture shine without them overpowering one another.
From the photographer…
I loved Olivia’s grand entrance AND their recessional. When she walked down the aisle with her father, you could count the number of guests with dry eyes on one hand! It was so clear that they had all the love and support of their families and friends, and that they had ALL been waiting for this day to come for so long. Whenever the groom is waiting before the ceremony, I ask them for a little favor – when you walk back up the aisle with your new wife, everyone will be cheering and clapping and smiling…take all that excitement, bring it all together, and channel it into the BEST kiss EVER in the middle! Jesse delivered that, plus some. It always surprises the bride in the best way and truly captures the excitement of the day, all in one photo! I love that Olivia threw her bouquet in the air with just as much pride and excitement right back.
