A Heartfelt Jewish Wedding filled with Emotion at Psagot Winery, Israel – Smashing the Glass

Saul & Yehudith, Psagot, Israel

Get ready to be blown away by today’s STUNNING Jewish wedding – exquisitely captured by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jossef Si. Israel-based couple Yehudit and Saul, who both work in high tech, chose to make it official at the ultra-romantic Psagot Winery.

With gorgeous surroundings ticked off the list – a place like Psagot doesn’t need anything extra to shine – Yehudit and Saul were free to focus on their top priority: crafting a day that truly reflected them and their values. And did they ever! The challenges the pair faced along the way – most notably Yehudit’s parents being denied at the airport – only served to bring them closer together.

But back to those incredible photos – in Yehudit’s words, Jossef Si was “incredible, professional, creative, and a pleasure to work with,” and his images do such an amazing job of capturing all the love and emotion of the day, and in high style too.

There’s lots more to say about this very special wedding – Yehudit and Saul have quite the how-we-met story – so read on for all the rest…

How we Met

Yehudith, the bride: We met on my first Shabbat in Jerusalem, I sublet a room for 2 week and one of the girls who lived there was Saul’s friend. She invited him for Shabbat dinner and when he saw me he thought “wow this girl is tall! I need to talk with her”, but to his surprise I didn’t know English.

So, he invited me and his friend for lunch the next day and he told his friend that he wanted to ask me out, but …we could not communicate, and I was converting (guiur process) so I could not go out with anyone.

It was very cold that day and I forgot to bring a jacket so he gave me his jacked from the army (he served in Golani) hopping that it would make us to meet again.

I never gave the jacket back…Till the day I finished my guiur and learned English (1 and half years later). I texted him “Hey do you remember me? I have your jacket, I would like to give it back to you.” And he answered “lets make a deal, you can stay with the jacket if you go out with me.” So we started dating.

A Romantic Venue

Our venue was Psagot Winery. We were looking at many places, but this venue was by far the most romantic and had the best service.

A Personal Wedding

Our wedding was about us, not any wedding style, it centered on our identity because of the meaningful atmosphere surrounding us. My parents got denied at the airport and all our friends and family were united in bringing them back to be accepted into Israel, it was the hardest time in our lives. Facing it together brought a new significance to our life and to the life of everybody present in our wedding.

Getting married is about union, and our union to fight for what is important for us was very important in our wedding.

Dress

My dress was tailor made, I went shopping for the fabric with my designer Pinush. I wanted something elegant and timeless, she helped me choose all the details and I think we found the best shape to fit my personality.

Accessories

My mom gave me her favourite necklace as a wedding gift to wear on my wedding day, it was one of the first pieces of jewellery that my father gave her as a gift.

The handsome groom

He wore a watch that I gave him on his birthday, this in combination with his brain new tallit that we choose together and finally seeing him in the suit made my heart pump (he always wears shorts and a  t-shirt)

Ceremony

For me and him was the moment that I was walking to the chuppah and we could not take our eyes off of each other. Our ketubah was from Tzohar. For our chuppah, I decided on flowers but not too much because I wanted to keep the focus on us.

  Our Music Choice

Most important to us was the party having lots of energy and dancing. so we went with a DJ, which was really amazing for us!  He was perfect and played all the music us and our friends enjoyed. Really had a positive influence on the wedding, and in my opinion, the DJ is the most critical component because he creates the vibe of the wedding.

Photographer and videographer

The photographer we used was Jossef Si, and we found him off of Instagram.  He was incredible, professional, creative, and a pleasure to work with.  The photographs are forever, so make sure you love your photographer and have good chemistry.  After our wedding, working with him could not have been easier, and when we need to do family photos in the future, I can’t imagine using anyone else.
