Personal & Fun Spring Blush Pink Willow Marsh Farm Wedding

A warm welcome to Beth and Matt who are kindly sharing their stunning Willow Marsh Farm wedding in Leicestershire. They were wed in the Spring with the most beautiful blush pink colour scheme. Complete with an abundance of Spring flowers and soft floaty table linens. Swoon.

Beth wore a romantic lace gown and Matt chose a classic navy suit, they both looked amazing! One of the things I love most though is their laid-back approach to planning and how they wanted their day to not feel like a package. It certainly looked spectacular and really personal indeed.

Willow Marsh Farm Wedding

The Proposal

We had been together 7 years, and we’d booked a long-awaited trip to New York somewhere I had wanted to visit all my life.

He was very good at putting me off the scent and I never thought he would propose there but we had a rooftop on our hotel overlooking the Empire State Building and he said we should go up and see the sunset.

I went up and was thinking to myself this would be an amazing place to propose as I took a picture of the Empire State and as I turned around he was on one knee – it was perfect as no one else was up there and so we could just enjoy the moment for us two.

The Vision

I’d never been a person that had dreamt about a white wedding my whole life. If I was going to get married I wanted it to feel like us and not just a tick box of items that someone has told you to do.

I found my venue 3 months after getting engaged, it had recently opened as a barn conversion and it was a blank canvas that we could put our own spin on and not feel like we’re in a package. I wanted to be able to find the food that we love, and to really have an amazing space to put our own spin on yet be reasonably informal to share our day with our family and friends.

Budget

We ideally wanted to spend around £15,000 just for the wedding (not honeymoon) but of course, with it being a wedding and sourcing everything ourselves it did work out over budget!

As we’d postponed our wedding twice and had to wait two more years we did throw a bit of caution to the wind when it came to the flower decoration and table décor.

The Venue

Willow Marsh Farm was our reception venue, it opened in 2020 officially for couples but the couple that renovated the barn conversion had originally converted it for their own wedding.

I’d always loved the idea of getting married in a barn, but I didn’t want it to feel too modern I wanted it to retain all of its original features and really feel like we’re bringing the outdoor inside. As soon as I saw it (it was the only venue we saw) we both just said that’s the one, I knew nothing else would match up to it.

I think we were one of the first couples to sign up to getting married there, and although we had to wait 2 more years to finally get our day it was so worth the wait. As they had added a place where we could get ready on the morning before and then stay over the night of the wedding called the Parlour and it was so beautiful and really made our day even more special.

The Ceremony & Music

We got married in a local village church called Stanford on Soar, which was so lovely and very local to the reception so ideal for our guests and we wanted an old church that had retained all of its original features – no carpet in sight!

We had the church organist to play classic wedding music on the organ for my entrance and our depart which felt really authentic as we had thought about a violinist to play music but we’re glad we went with the classic approach with being married in a church.

We also had the bells on our departure out of the church which was so nice and really made everything feel official!

For our reception, we sourced a band called The Dirty Weekend which were a festival-themed band which we could choose different sets. So we chose Live Aid, Reading and Leeds and V fest so we could cover all bases for different tastes and then have DJ sets in between live music.

The Styling & Decor

We had Louise Price from NumberTwentySeven for our florist. She was amazing and really hit the brief of natural wildflowers and lots of them. With vintage blush pink ranunculus and tulips for our spring wedding. We had lots of flowers everywhere and I really felt like they made a difference and made everything so fresh and bright.

For our linen and napkins, we had Boelle Events as I wanted coloured linen napkins in a blush pink and a floaty muslin linen material to put along the middle of the tables with foliage on top.

Our welcome sign, menus and table names and numbers were Papier, but my uncle did the calligraphy and made our table plan which was such a lovely touch. My Mum made my beautiful blush pink cake covered in pearls and fresh flowers!

Your Outfits

Again, being the awkward untypical bride after visiting a few wedding dress shops I didn’t enjoy the experience and I really didn’t see anything that felt like me. I didn’t want to lose myself on the one day that would be the most special.

After a couple of months searching, I decided to go to a local lady in Nottingham that our family friend had recommended. She, unfortunately, has retired now, but she was very talented and could take on my vision through images I had.

I sourced the Chantilly lace from a local lace maker, and took her the quantity for her to create my dress. I wanted something floaty and comfortable that had a vintage feel but not overpriced and made from lovely quality material.

Matt was also quite fussy, he didn’t love many of the suit options available. Originally he wanted a green suit, and we had bought sage green suits from Moss Bros for our first date in 2020. But we were able to take them back and he changed his mind and went for a more classic fit.

And had dark blue suits from Kin at John Lewis and teamed them with a grey and navy check waistcoat and burgundy ties. He felt very happy with them and they looked so smart.

Your Photographer

Matt Horan was our photographer and he was amazing, couldn’t recommend him more. He really got involved with everyone on the day, to the point where people were asking us if he was one of our friends!

He took some lovely shots which are so unposed and candid. That was one of the main reasons I chose him as I wanted to be able to capture the feel of the day through people especially as I wouldn’t have been there at all of these moments.

This was the reason I didn’t feel like I needed a videographer as I felt like he already captured so much of the day through his amazing photography.

The Honeymoon

We went to the Lux South Ari Atoll in the Maldives, which was so beautiful and a real rest after such a long wait to get there! Couldn’t fault any part and want to get married again to have an excuse to get back there!

Memorable Moments

• Spending the morning with my bridesmaids and Mum and having a relaxed morning in the Parlour at the reception.
• Seeing everyone’s faces and how happy they were for us when we walked out of the church.
• Dancing all night with our family and friends and seeing everyone having such a good time.

Advice For Other Couples

• Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s not worth it.
• Try not to get too worked up or nervous where you can.
• Try and get sleep the night before, I didn’t!
