Modern Wedding Ideas with Colour Blocking
Table of Contents
Oh dear readers, brace yourself as we have an absolute corker of a wedding styled inspiration shoot to share with you all. A shoot that has been put together by exhibitors of The Most Curious Wedding Fair (which is this weekend lovely people – get your ticket here) and inspired by the trend setting vibe that Most Curious wedding show’s always brings.
Trend Setting Chic explores a bridal style that is boundary pushing (I just love the blue eyeshadow), decor themes that are bang on trend (we see you colour blocking flowers and shimmering backdrops) the coolest of bridal portrait photography and a line up of awesome wedding suppliers showcasing what they do best. We love the way chic has been mixed with disco both within the bridal and decor look and the images of the bride laying amongst those gorgeous coloured flowers in simply genius.
Zuza of Whole Lotta Love Weddings, who brought together the team behind this shoot, talks us through each element, who was involved and the themes they were exploring.
But first, let us start with the brilliant film by Loved Up Films which we love love LOVE.
Enjoy lovely people and make sure you get a ticket to Most Curious – it is going to be a brilliant event!!!
Ps the gorgeous model Gabrielle Kusiappiah is totally channeling Beyoncé vibes in this shoot – especially in some of the close ups. So very beautiful.

Words by Whole Lotta Love Weddings
I wanted this styled shoot to be representative of the talent awaiting visitors at this year’s Most Curious Wedfair. And what better way to do this than to bring a few likeminded exhibitors together and show couples what a good supplier collab can produce. Something visually stunning that can be used as a wedding design inspiration.
It had to be fresh, it had to be chic, it had to be unconventional and bang on trend.
Getting the team supreme together was easy – there isn’t one bad apple exhibiting at this show. So, I narrowed it down to the cool cats whose style and aesthetic closely matches mine. And the result was incredible!
Floristry…
This wasn’t a full-blown styled shoot. It was meant to be a simple yet pure bridal editorial. I wanted to keep it small but visually impactful. The idea was to create an irregular wedding aisle, full of cloud-like, block colour baby breath (gyps), spray painted light blue, pastel pink, and orange, dotted with relaxed roses and frilly carnations in matching colours.
Ash from Rooted in Rosemary delivered on my brief better than I could have imagined.
I didn’t want the usual bridal bouquet either but opted for a 70s tyle round basket tote filled to the brim with flowers instead.
The aisle was flooded with dry ice, creating that heavenly club feel. And of course, there is that cute little retro cocktail bar (an eBay purchase that I’ve lovingly reupholstered especially for the shoot and show), waiting at the end of the aisle. Wouldn’t it be awesome to get married in front of a cocktail bar? (Imagine a celebrant standing behind it, mixing up a couple of cocktails for your I do’s! Hell yeah!)
Photography…
Lisa Jane brought her camera A game, with her true rock n’roll shooting style, focusing on all the little details, no zooming in here people. This gal goes in up close! Lisa said…
I love photographing collaborative editorial shoots. The results that come from giving everyone involved creative freedom is always incredible. Working alongside passionate and creative people pushes you and gives you the confidence to try out new things, push your own boundaries and also allows you to fall in love with your craft.
Collaboration and creativity are also the reasons I love Most Curious. Becky and the team are so passionate about the industry and the people involved. They pull the best suppliers together, giving couples the choice and freedom to be themselves and create a wedding that reflects who they are.’
Videography…
Robin from Loved up Films did his filming magic, making the most beautiful short film, focusing on capturing beauty in a moment of happiness.
Bridalwear…
I wanted this to be retro cool, so I choose a short wedding dress with seriously incredible statement sleeves, queue Kate from Edmondson Bridal Couture, and the ultimate gold disco heels by Terry de Havilland = dancefloor-ready perfection.
This is what Kate says about her short dress collection:
‘The dresses featured are part of our new civil ceremony collection, available on a bespoke basis. The dresses are relaxed, fun, easy to wear with or without the sleeves, making them super adaptable. A great option for the style conscious bride. All styles can be made in a selection of bridal fabrics to suit your style & look.’
Hair & Makeup…
The makeup brief was big 70s eyes, glowing skin, and natural afro hair, which Alev from Flaming Bride nailed to perfection.
The Venue…
We were hosted by SL Venues in Shoreditch, in one of their smaller studios called Vox Arms.
I will be recreating the scene as my show stand at the show, so come say hi and have a glass of bubbly while we chat about your oh so cool wedding plans.
