What kind of earrings do brides wear? Can brides wear hoop earrings? This is the question we received from bride-to-be, Melissa, who wants to know if she can rock a pair of gold hoops to her wedding. Spoiler alert: yes, absolutely!

She writes,

“Dear Emmaline Bride, I want to wear a pair of boho hoop earrings for my wedding but my friend said she didn’t know if brides can wear hoop earrings. What kind of earrings do brides wear? Can a bride wear hoop earrings?”

Great question, Melissa! She short answer: YES! As a rule of thumb, the bride can wear any type of earrings she would like to wear.

But what kind should the bride wear depends on a few factors: the style of the earrings, the dress, and how large the hoops are.

The only thing to note is you do not want the hoops of the earrings to be too large they will overwhelm your face, or too small they will go unnoticed.

Other than that, you can pretty much choose any type of bridal earrings to wear — including hoops!

Just because your friend hasn’t seen wedding hoop earrings doesn’t mean they’re not wildly popular right now! I think bridal hoop earrings are probably one of the most-requested earrings styles of the moment, particularly when they have a pop of gold, a touch of whimsy, and a dab of boho-inspired style.

Now, this brings us to another question, just in case you’re wondering: can bridesmaids wear hoop earrings? Again, yes! However, do brides wear the same earrings as bridesmaids? No! The bride can wear hoop earrings and the bridesmaids can wear hoop earrings. The style of earrings can be similar, but the look of the earrings should be different. The bride should wear a pair that is absolutely wedding-inspired in style, while bridesmaids can wear hoops but they should be of a different variety. The bride’s earrings should always be slightly more formal than the bridesmaids’.
